This app is great, and no matter if you are 7 or 70, you should be able to learn the basics of a foreign language, without it being a brain-wracking ordeal. As someone who loves languages and learning, I can appreciate a good language app when I see one.
This is a great app for beginner - intermediate speaker. (I would recommend other apps for a more advanced level.)
Apps aside, I am going to share a little best kept secret of language learning. If you want to learn a foreign language faster and better, you must utilize several language learning modalities. If you are learning in a formal classroom setting, add an app like mindsnacks. If you are doing full emersion in a foreign country, take a grammar class when you return. Doubling and even tripling your sources of learning, will rapidly magnify your language skills.
There is another secret. Think of it as fun and be persistent, working on the new language daily. Don't give up. Chances are, you are a lot closer to fluency than you realize, it just doesn't seem so until right when you get there :)
